August 6, 1998 Sal Gippaldi came into my life a little more than a year ago. I had asked him to sequence one of my favorite Jimmy Buffett tunes, "Holiday". I'm not sure how our friendship started, but the first midi he had ever sent me, "Peg O' My Heart" melted my heart. From that moment on, I knew he and I would get along well. A very close friend once told me a Parrot Head is a little bit "pirate", a little bit "poet", loves music (especially Buffett music), and has a big heart.... Sal is definitely all this and more. He has since completed many of my favorite Buffett tunes: "Creola", "Frenchman For The Night", "Love In The Library", "Honey Do", "Desdemona...", "Happily Ever After...", "School Boy Heart", ... Well, you get the idea. Last year, I once told Sal that I was collecting some of his midis. I believe he was thinking that I had a few in addition to the Buffett midis...when I told him I had about 60 then, he was a little amazed. Of course, that was then...I believe I have close to 200 of his midis that I have found on the internet, from friends, or from Sal, himself. I think I even joked about being his number one fan once.... and about starting a fan club. Well, with a little help from my friends...I've helped start this fan club. Sal, I have enjoyed your music and your friendship. I look forward to many years together. Thank you for all that you have done for this Belle - all the cheers you have brought me, all the times we've shared. Happy Birthday! (7/29) :-) ~Southern Belle~ |

| March 15, 2000 It has been almost two years since the beginning of The Redsal Appreciation Society Webring. Many things have happened in many lives on the internet. For Sal and myself, we seem to have formed a partnership. I still believe after all this time on the internet, he is the best midi sequencer online. I continue to be inspired by his tastes in music enough to create webpages/graphics around them. Sal, I believe, would prefer just making the midis and making them available to people to use online - if he could figure out how to do that without writing too much HTML. Hence, the partnership formed...he continues to give us quality midi music and he's gracious enough to let me be his webmaster for his website. It's an experience and task I thoroughly enjoy. He now has his own domain (http://www.redsal.com) and has sequenced over 400+ midis - 40+ of which are Jimmy Buffett tunes and others of songs for individual performers. Thank you, My Friend, for the years we've had...and I look forward to many more. ~Southern Belle~ |
